Elixir
On this side of the world
everyone is fast asleep
but I am the only one
who wanders alone
in the night.
The bustling streets
now consumed by silence
and darkness
are littered with loners
–such as I.
I long for a companion
to guide me back home
but I’d rather have
this special elixir with me
on my trek into the morning.
My once dark day
now brought back to life
in the night
is fixed with a quick of a sip
and this has brought me closer
to a sense of tranquility
I never knew I could have.
